Attack of the Road Rage

Those of you who know me, and you know who you are.... know I am a little wild when it comes to my driving. I tend to speed, try to do two things at once (i.e. finding a CD, talking on the phone, eating, etc.), and sing and dance. Well, I also have road rage. I've never gotten into a fight, or gone completely insane on someone, but I do cuss out load and yell inside my car at stupid people (only in my mind are they stupid) who don't go fast enough, cut me off, or do ignorant things that involves getting into my way. Well, it is not good when two people with road rage get together on the street. It usually ends up in a quarrel or something worse.

This weekend, I almost got attacked. I was out at 2:30 am (don't ask why) and I was in a hurry (like always). I was driving down the street on a one lane road where the speed limit is 45 mph. Then I caught up to a guy in white pickup doing 25 - 30. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! CAN'T YOU READ! THE SIGN SAYS 45 A**HOLE. GET OUTTA THE WAY. So, I was kind of close to him. Then he break checks me. I slammed on my breaks as well, but I did not hit him cause I wasn't close. YOU SON A B*TCH. I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU ARE THAT MUCH OF A F**KER THAT YOU WOULD STOOP TO SUCH A LOW THING LIKE BREAK CHECKING! I DON'T EVEN BREAK CHECK! So because I have anger problems, I continued to ride his a**. We came to a section of the road where I had a chance to pass him. I tried to go around him, and then he went faster so I couldn't get around him. Wait a minute! FIRST YOU DRIVE SLOWER THAN MY 96 YEAR OLD GREAT GRANDMOTHER, THEN YOU GO FASTER ONLY TO BE A D*CK SO I CAN'T GET AROUND YOU! YOU LOW LIFE, C*CKS*CKIN', M*TH*RF*CKIN SON OF A B*TCH! WHY NOT LET ME AROUND YOU? THEN I WOULD BE OUT OF YOUR WAY SO YOU CAN CONTINUE TO BE A F*CKER TO THE REST OF THE DRIVING POPULATION! BY NOOOOOOOOOOOO.... YOU HAVE TO CONTINUE TO F*CK WITH ME! Then he curves to the side of the road and stops his car in front of me. He gets out and starts screaming at me.... "WHAT THE F*CK IS THE MATTER WITH YOU. YOU CRAZY B*TCH! YOU STUPID..." I didn't hear the rest of what he said. I swerved into the opposing traffic (don't worry no one was there) and went around him finally. I almost hit his stupid a** too. Do you really think that I am dump enough to sit there in my car and let you come up to me and assault me. You're an idiot. I do know how to go around a car and leave you screaming on the side of the road looking like a lunatic while I win by finally getting around you and go on my merry way. (Doing 45 - 50 mph by the way). So see, I got what I wanted, even though it was a bad situation.

Like I said, two people with road rage..... not a good combo. Plus I think he might of been drunk. 2:30 am - driving 25 - 30 mph.... probably trying to avoid being pulled over and getting arrested. Who knows! I know you probably think I'm psycho, but that's the way I am when I'm in my car... gotta be honest.

I am a terrible driver. I hate everyone infront of me, if I can overtake them...then I don't hate them anymore.
I hate learner drivers. I know they have to learn but fucking WHY WHEN I'M ON THE ROAD. And I'm a cow when it comes to old drivers. The sort with hats on who drive at 25mph. Yesterday in asda walmart car park. An old geezer was manoevering into a space, backwards and forwards. We parked the car and did our shopping before he actually got out of the car. Then as we walked past this old woman in a car with the window down, she shouted out to us...'I don't need no knife and fork' We decided it was looney day in Asda.

Whoa Girl! I sympathize with you. But doesn't everyone in Cal have a loaded weapon in the glove box? (lived in Piru,CA - 2years LK Havasu 2 years)
I just finished presenting a road rage seminar in Toronto to a trucking company. (Yes even truckers use their vehicles as weapons of mass destruction- its not pretty)
Its one of the things my company BLiNK Interact does for corporations.
We used to have a major problem in TO with it but its starting to resede. The RR problem was at its height as the bell curve of over population dramatically increased. People now just kinda got used to it and the beatings and shootings have dropped to low levels. But there is the occasional incident. I am telling you this because I am concerned for your safety. I also recognize that your true color is an Orange. Orange people have a problem with slow people. So let me suggest a few things here to help you cope, from an orange to an orange. (check my profile and you'll see what I mean.)
1. Give it up.As long as there is too many people on the road you will have congestion and there's nothing anyone can do.
2. You may be killed.
3. You may total your car.
4. The other person may recognize you and be your future employer.
5. Don't give the finger. This is an escalation level. This could cause you serious harm. Instead wave and smile cutely. This is your personal code that means to you "I think your a friggin idiot driver and wouldn't want to be you." Its safer.
6. Get a powerful car. One that is at least 300 HP. This way you can do power passes and stay away form the nuts. This is what I do. But No one knows it. I am fairly impossible to keep up with. This is a dangerous option and preffered for people with hi performance driving skills.
7. Take a deep breath and tune your radio or make a call on your cell to a friend. Note talking on the cell slows you down.
8. Slow down and think about building a blog on it.
9. Just don't get involved and if you get in trouble, consede and apologize. Its not worth it. In Canada Road Rage is a felony.
10. By following some of these suggestions I hope you protect yourself. I'm not recomending the HP Car route, but thats what I quietly do. But I also don't get to aggressive, I just take advantage of open space. If I stuck, well so be it, I just take a breath or make a call and wait for my chance to hit the turbo boost.I haven't had a problem since the early 90's.
Maybe we all should get together and do a RR blog and link to each other.

I hope this helps and if you visit any of my blogs you can get my email there and send comments personally.
I will respond and give you advice from an ex-road rager.

Arive alive!
