SERIOUS STORY
My boss has a 7 year old daughter. She has had problems since she was born. She had a lump on the back of her leg / butt. They took this lump out, but it has caused problems since then. That one leg doesn't grow at the same rate as her other one and it doesn't carry any weight. She is a pretty chunky monkey, but this one leg is really skinny and vulnerable. But the worst part is that her leg was bent and she had to have two surgeries when she was a young toddler to straighten it out. Now that she is older her foot is now at an angle inward and she has recently (past 2 years) had to more surgeries to try to straighten that out.
She went to UCLA yesterday and they got news that the surgeons want to amputate her foot. How can you tell a 7 year old child, (who by the way is already so low in self-esteem she bullies kids into being her friend because she doesn't want kids not to like her) you want to take off her foot. She tries to be so tough but I know she is so vulnerable because she already has other kids making fun of her because she walks with a limp. I just can't see how you put a child through all those surgeries and then tell her you are taking her foot as well.
It must be so hard for her mother and father as well. I'm so scared for them. She is such a cute kid and she is so quick-witted she is funny. I hope something works out for them and everything is okay.
